This script allows you to put multiple quizzes and Postcards on your site.
Just use one script for multiple quizzes. It's easy to set up and your visitors
will love it.
Report any bugs or improvement suggestions to email@example.com.
How It Works:
Create a separate .cgi file for each quiz, then call the quiz using the format:
The user's browser and your server will collect the answers and either evaluate them
or email you the results--- or both!
1. Set some options at the beginning of the scripts
2. Use FTP to upload the files
4. Set exectute permissions on the Perl script, and write permissions on the
4. Test the script
1. Using a text editor like textpad, or notepad, open the .pl file
Change the path to perl so that it's
configured for your server.
2. Change the variables,
if specified, the ONLY domains that the script can be run from. If left empty, anyone could
run your script, but they wouldn't see any graphics!!! If your site answers to both
www.domain.com and domain.com, then use both!
@okaydomains = ("www.domain.com","domain.com");
$days_to_keep = 7;
Number of days to keep cards before purging
#$SMTP_SERVER = "localhost";
$sendmail_location = "/usr/sbin/sendmail";
The name of the system acting as your sendmail gateway
USE EITHER SMTP OR SENDMAIL DEPENDING ON YOUR SYSTEM-BUT NOT BOTH! Put a pound sign (#) in front
of the line to ignore it.
$base_directory = "/home/virtual/site148/fst/var/www/html/";
The unix directory that your greeting cards will be stored in.
$base_url = "http://220.127.116.11/~intelliscript.net/";
The URL (http address) of the directory your cards will be stored in.
$home_page_url = "http://18.104.22.168/~intelliscript.net/";
The home page URL for your site.
$site_friendly_name = "Silver Family Photos";
$site_friendly_name is the Name of your site, ie Title
$page_to_create_extension = ".htm";
EXT is the ending name for your card files. NEVER, EVER USE shtml!!
$script_name_and_url = "card.pl";
$script_name_and_url is the URL of THIS script.
$email_logfile = "maillog";
MAILLOG is a file name that you can capture e-mail addresses in
$email_subject = "You have a Photo Card waiting for you!";
$body_info = '<br><blockquote>';
3. Use an FTP program like WS_FTP or CuteFTP (just some examples I'm aware of)
and upload the files to your server's cgi-bin.
5. Set permissions (CHMOD):
.pl files: 755
.cgi files: 777, or 766 if 777 is not allowed.
NOW, TEST IT:
6. From a browser, open the .pl file like this:
As always, let me know of problems, questions, or requests for features.
