Random Winners one allows users to subscribe to a list, and then gives you the ability to pick a random winner from all subscribers.
There are two scripts in Random Winners. The first allows your visitors to submit their email for inclusion in a random draw through an AJAX form on your page. The second is like it, except users can submit their emails to your draw by sending a message to an email account with POP access.
The script must be set up to check the pop account periodically, either through a cron job, or by inserting it in an image tag on your page.
If there is a pre-specified keyword in the subject line of the message, then the email sender is added to the list.
When it comes times to pick a random winner, the administrator can use the built in random function to make the choice.

In-Out is a neato little program which watches PC and Mac users while they work. For windows, it's a tiny Windows tray icon. When your screensaver becomes active, or after you've been idle for X minutes, it marks you as "Away" and when you return, it marks you as "In." For Mac users, it's a Widget which keeps an eye on your mouse and keyboard activity. [more & download links]

I looked into every solution all summer and for basic CMS this is just perfect. I only found it by using the right search term, 'browser based CMS' I think. Previously everything that pulled up were the hair pulling sql/php hair pulling things. Those solutions are like using a bazooka to swat a fly. Joomla's powerful but a nightmare when clients already have highly specific designs they don't want changed. Dan Butler
